Apprenticeship Non-Compliance Doesn't Just Cost You Fees. It Costs You the Project.

Most contractors don't realize the IRA’s apprenticeship requirements and the DoL’s apprenticeship program are two separate compliance requirements. Let one slip and you’re out of compliance on both.

You Don't Know You're Out of Compliance Until After the Damage Is Done

The DoL doesn't send a warning before issuing violations. By the time a contractor finds out they've missed a ratio, failed a filing, or misreported hours, the penalties are already on the table. Willful violations run $500 per non-compliant labor hour.

Apprentix monitors your compliance in real time and flags issues before they become violations. You hear about problems before the DoL does.

No One on Your Team Is Qualified to Be a DoL Program Sponsor

Running a registered apprenticeship program means taking on federal sponsor responsibilities. That means state filings, DoL reporting, audit exposure, and accountability for every hour logged in your program. Most contractors have no one built for that role.

Apprentix becomes your Fractional Sponsor and takes on those responsibilities so your team doesn't have to.

Your IRA Consultant Doesn't Cover Your Apprenticeship Program

Your IRA consultant handles the tax credit side. They don't touch your registered apprenticeship program. That gap is where contractors get caught. Falling out of DoL compliance means falling out of IRA compliance, and both credits are at risk.

Apprentix closes that gap. We handle the apprenticeship piece your IRA consultant doesn't cover.
Our Approach

Compliance Shouldn't Be Your Problem to Own

Most contractors come to Apprentix after realizing two things: their IRA consultant doesn't manage their DoL program, and their in-house team isn't equipped to.

Apprentix was built for exactly that gap. We act as your registered program sponsor so you don't carry the federal sponsor burden. We file with the DoL, monitor your apprentices, handle audits, and alert you before anything falls out of line. No scrambling for documents at the wrong moment. No surprises. You focus on winning and delivering IRA projects. We make sure your apprenticeship program never gives anyone a reason to take the credits back.
What's Included

Full-Coverage DoL Compliance, From Day One

Apprentix has custom-built automations with the DoL that files all the registration paperwork, issues Davis-Bacon certificates, and responds to the DoL, and manages every compliance obligation your program carries.

Proactive Compliance Monitoring

Apprentix allows contractors to register apprentices, track their training hours, monitor wage increases, and keep their program compliant with the DoL. When something drifts out of range, you get an alert, not a penalty notice.

Dedicated Compliance Management

Apprentix's platform and compliance team manage your program end to end. The system monitors your apprentices, flags issues before they become violations, and keeps every filing on track. You also get full access to our Self Service Knowledge Base, real-time in-app live chat, and email support. If a strategy call is required or you want to get us on the phone with your customer to work things out, we're happy to do that as well.

Automated DoL Reporting

The Apprentix platform generates every required form: Apprenticeship Standards, Registration Certificates, Appendix A through D, Form 671 apprenticeship agreements, Davis-Bacon wage certificates, letters of authorization, confirmation of reciprocity, and apprentice progress reports. Your team stops spending hours on government forms and starts spending that time on the project.

7-Year Audit-Ready Recordkeeping

The DoL requires 7 years of apprenticeship records. Every hour log, wage progression, competency evaluation, and filing is stored in the platform from day one. If an auditor shows up, everything is organized and ready.

Nationwide Coverage in 7 Occupations

Apprentix holds certified National Guideline Standards issued by the Department of Labor across 48 states in 7 occupations: Construction Craft Laborer, Heavy Equipment Operator, Electrician, Pipefitter, Surveyor, Wind Turbine Technician, and Carpenter (Form Builder). Take on IRA projects in new states without re-registering your program from scratch.

**Coverage excludes California (no state projects, IRA-only ok) and New York.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between IRA compliance and DoL apprenticeship compliance?

They work together but they're separate requirements. Your IRA compliance consultant handles the tax credit side. Apprentix handles the DoL registered apprenticeship side, the part most contractors are missing. If your apprenticeship program falls out of DoL compliance, you lose the IRA enhanced tax credits. Both have to be in order.

What does it mean for Apprentix to be our Fractional Sponsor?

It means Apprentix acts as the DoL registered apprenticeship program sponsor for your registered apprenticeship program. We file with the DoL, respond to audits, manage state registrations, and make sure your program stays in compliance. You get all the protection of a fully registered program without your team having to take on the sponsor role.

What happens if we get a notice of non-compliance?

Apprentix handles it. Your records and program history are already documented in the platform, so everything needed for a DoL response is ready. You don't have to scramble.

We already have an IRA compliance consultant. Do we still need Apprentix?

Yes, if you're performing IRA work. Your IRA consultant handles the tax credit structure. They don't manage your DoL registered apprenticeship program. That's the gap Apprentix fills. Without it, your apprenticeship program is the weakest link in your IRA compliance chain.

How quickly can we get our program compliant?

Your program can be registered and running with apprentices counting compliant hours in 2 weeks. We start cohorts on the 1st business day of each month with 5 companies per cohort. If you've just won an IRA project or received a compliance notice, that timeline matters. Need it faster?

Our 3-Day Expedite service gets everything done in a single Orientation call. Setting up a program independently takes 9 months or more.

What states and occupations does Apprentix cover?

Apprentix holds certified National Guideline Standards issued by the Department of Labor across 48 states in 7 occupations: Construction Craft Laborer, Heavy Equipment Operator, Electrician, Pipefitter, Surveyor, Wind Turbine Technician, and Carpenter (Form Builder).

These cover the labor classifications required for the 15% apprentice-hour threshold on most IRA projects. Coverage excludes California (no state projects, IRA-only ok) and New York.

How much does it cost?

The Fractional Sponsor service starts at $13,000 per year for up to 20 active apprentices and includes all DoL filings, audit management, and full access to the Apprentix platform for tracking and visibility.
